Miyama is a small countryside town located to the North of Kyoto, famous for its thatched-roof historical village that dates back to 200 years ago and is the biggest cluster of such houses in Kansai area. Our inn, Taisanboku Miyama, is located about 25 minutes away from the Kayabuki no Sato (the historical thatched-roof houses).

Secluded location of Miyama makes it a perfect spot for a get-away from a busy city life. Traditional Japanese house, with tatami flooring, zen garden, hori-gotatsu (unique to Japan traditional table placed over a recessed floor with a heating system, covered with a futon) to stay warm during colder months and a magnificent view over Miyama mountains. You can go back in time and enjoy the peacefulness and mindfulness, relaxing by the small stream in front of the house or walking around the neighborhood.
